Microchip Technology offers the LIN transceivers MCP2021 / MCP2022 with integrated LDO controller for automotive applications. These transceivers form the physical interface for LIN bus connections in accordance with the LIN 2.0 specification. The bus driver supplies output currents of up to 200 mA during transmission at 20 kbit/s with a quiescent current of less than 50 µA. In addition to the physical interface for bidirectional half-duplex communication, this transceiver offers an additional LDO with 5 V/50 mA or 3.3 V/50 mA output for supplying microcontrollers or other modules. The output current can be increased as required using an additional transistor. The LDO is short-circuit proof and has an integrated overtemperature cut-out. The transceiver was specially developed for the requirements in automotive engineering, survives reverse polarity of the battery voltage and load dump transients of up to +43 V. With a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, this component meets all requirements for networking automotive subsystems.
