Charging modules for Li-ion / Li-polymer batteries
Microchip's MCP73831/2 devices are advanced linear charge controllers for single lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries for low-power and space-constrained devices. They offer the most important basic functions required for the safe charging of lithium batteries, such as simple output of the charging status, control of the supply and charging voltage and the charging current, which can be selected via a resistor. The low-cost variants MCP73831/2 are available as 8-pin DFN or 5-pin SOT23 packages. Together with the small size, this component is particularly interesting for portable systems due to the limited additional circuitry. The components of the MCP73831/2 series comply with all specifications for operation on a USB port of a PC.
