Supercaps normally have a nominal voltage of 2.5 V. However, many electronic circuits use a supply voltage of 3.3 or 5 V. The P-series from Powerstor are the 5 V variants of the respective standard series and thus inherit their properties with a doubled operating voltage and slightly lower capacity. The PB series is equipped with propylene carbonate as electrolyte and is the further development of the PA series.
In 2012, the energy management provider Eaton acquired Cooper Industries, a company founded in 1833. The brand names of the established Cooper products Coiltronics, Powerstor, Cooper-Bussmann and Polysurg will be retained.
Eaton Elektronics Division products include the Coiltronics (SMD inductors), Powerstor (supercapacitors), Cooper Bussmann (fuses) and Polysurg (ESD protection elements) brands.
