USB is a serial bus system for connecting a computer to external devices. USB devices are characterized by features such as "hot swapping" (connection on the fly) and automatic detection of connected devices. With the help of "ExtremeUSB" technology developed by Icron, the operating range of USB is no longer limited to 5m. The operating range can be extended to over 100m and up to several kilometers via various transmission media (twisted pair cable, fiber optics).
